Employed by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), Japan's sole national public broadcaster from April 1953 as an international news writer/editor and served as its correspondent in Africa (based in Accra, Ghana), London, Cairo and New York until August 1975.

From September 1976, served as NHK's manager and director of international relations until August 1984, when appointed as director-general of international cooperation, corporate planning bureau, to supervise NHK's overall international affairs.

Represented NHK at many international conferences such as the annual general assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and the International Institute of Communications (IIC).

In January 1988, retired from NHK and in November 1989, joined the Hoso-Bunka (Broadcast Culture) Foundation as its executive secretary. The foundation was established in 1974 to assist the cultural and technological development and progress of broadcasting. In August 1994, appointed as auditor of the foundation, after retiring from the post of its executive secretary.

In 1984, participated in the research project «The Flow and Interchange of TV Programs in Asia», organized by the Japan Foundation. In 1988, organized and conducted the research project «How Foreign Residents in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Obtain News and Other International about Japan and the Rest of the World?», funded by the Hoso-Bunka Foundation.
