From LinkedIn in 2020: “Dr Hugh Ellis, a lecturer in the Department of Communication who was recently awarded the William and Ntihila Kupe Prize for Postgraduate Research Excellence from Wits University. The recognition is given to candidates with the best PhD thesis in media studies in any given year. His thesis is entitled ‘Owning the Image: Photography as a Means of Empowerment in Contemporary Namibia.'”
