Dr. Manuel Alejandro Guerrero is a political communication scholar with degrees from El Colegio de México, the University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D. from the European University Institute. He is a Research Professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana, where he has also directed the Communication Department and the radio station Ibero 90.9 FM. For 17 years, he has coordinated the Professional Electoral Service at Mexico’s National Electoral Institute. A member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the UN Academic Council, and president of the UNESCO ORBICOM network, he also serves on several national and international editorial boards. His research focuses on media, democracy, civic attitudes in digital spaces, and the political and regulatory impact of AI. He has been a visiting professor in the U.S., China, Brazil, France, Italy, and Austria, and recently collaborated with PERIL on methods to counter polarization and disinformation. He is the author of 12 books and 24 book chapters with international publishers, and writes biweekly for El Sol de México on communication, journalism, media literacy, disinformation, and AI.
