GLOCOM project leader, Country Domain Name Governance project, 2007-ongoing. The overall goal of the project is a study of ccTLD Governance with a focus on good governance in operation and organizational structures and vulnerability. The project is sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Research Institute of Science and Technology for Society (RISTEX).

Research lead for the Japan section in Privacy and Trust in Electronic Communications for the European Commission for the European Commission (Subcontractor to WIK-Consut Gmbh, Germany) (2007).

Study on the digital divide and Internet governance in the post-WSIS age. (2006).  Work conducted for the Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies (Japan).The study included analysis of the discourse on linguistic diversity in the first meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and Policy implications of search engines in terms of fairness and transparancy.

Research on telecommunications policy and broadband take-up in Australia (2002, 2004, 2006).  Contributed to joint analysis on Australia’s national strategy on telecommunications market and broadband Internet. Made a research visit to Australia and interviewed with key persons in telecommunications industry and the government.

Research on network and information security (2005-2006).
Research on the allocation of budget for network and information security by the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Korea and the European Union for the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Subcontractor to the Institute for HyperNet Society, Oita, Japan).

Consulting on the Tokyo Ubiquitous Network Conference (2005).  Work commissioned by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, to coordinate a fellowship program for individuals representing civil society entities to participate in the Tokyo Ubiquitous Network Conference, hosted by the Ministry, and to organise one of the sessions in the Conference.

Survey and analysis on the recent changes in Spectrum policy (2003-2004)
Follow
up on the recent policy changes in radio spectrum policy in the United States
and Japan.

Ex post evaluation surveys of ICT related projects (2002-2003)
Ex post evaluation of ICT related projects in China and Indonesia according to the DAC framework. (Commissioned by Japan Bank for International Cooperation)

Deputy organiser for « Digital Opportunity Forum », Tokyo, 2001.
Acted as deputy organiser for « Digital Opportunity Forum: Asian Diversity and the Role of Japan » which was held on the 5th and 6th of November, 2001, http://www.glocom.ac.jp/dotforce/ dof.html, and aimed at discussing what Japan can do to support and contribute to developing countries.  Also contributed to the follow up « Digital Divide » research on ICT deployment in South East Asia.
