Sebastián Valenzuela (MA and Ph.D. in Journalism, University of Texas at Austin) is Associate Professor and Director of Research in the School of Communications at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Associate Researcher with the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data (IMFD).

He is an expert in political communication, journalism and social media, topics on which he has written more than 60 publications, including Setting the Agenda (Polity Press, in co-authorship with Max McCombs).

Currently, he is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Public Opinion Research and is working on projects on misinformation, fact-checking, polarization, and news framing. He has been visiting professor at the universities of Amsterdam and Wisconsin-Madison.
