Description and Mandate of the Chair

Kadir Has University is leading an international project on the preservation of industrial heritage to encourage the exchange of knowledge, experience, and innovation.

The UNESCO Chair at Kadir Has University has the goal to act as a think tank for generating knowledge on the protection and sustainable development of World Heritage and look for innovative ways to bring in communities into management mechanism. The outcomes of this program will help promote World Heritage Sites in Turkey and aims at providing Best Practice for its region. The UNESCO Chair at Kadir Has functions as a center that facilitates transfer of knowledge within and around Turkey. The UNESCO Chair at Kadir Has University is based on capacity building at different academic levels, bringing other academic institutions, NGOs and private enterprise together to work on better management of world heritage.
