Description and Mandate of the Chair

The chair, with the support of the college’s Social Media lnsights Lab at the University of South Carolina and in collaboration with other college faculty, analyzes and increase understanding of mis/disinformation spread through social media.

The chair works with UNESCO to organize an international conference each year. As a member of the faculty, the chair expects to make significant contributions to scholarship, public knowledge or creative activity, and be expected to mentor students and teach graduate- and undergraduate-level courses. The goal is the study of issues related to data, media, and their impact on society.
