Eric Olmedo is a sociologist by training. He is currently a Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM): the National University of Malaysia, where he leads the “Ethnicity & Food” research cluster.

He is listed as expert in training and education for hospitality and food & beverage industry sector by various international agencies; as such he has been conducting missions on workforce development and capacity building on behalf of the French Development Agency (AFD) and the World Bank, in Central and Southeast Asia.

Eric Olmedo has co-founded a social science laboratory, namely “Anthropotek”, which is used as platform for industry engagement in human resources’ solutions. The scope of research in anthropotechnology ranges from psychometrics to cognitive abilities instruments, including applied psychological anthropology. Eric Olmedo is also the founder of the Asia-Pacific Food Studies Network (APFSN).

Eric Olmedo is currently the Project Manager of the UNESCO Chair on Social Practices in Intercultural Communication and Social Cohesion at the National University of Malaysia.

Eric Olmedo est sociologue de formation. Il est à présent chercheur en anthropologie sociale à l’institut d’études ethniques (KITA) au sein de Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM): l’université nationale de Malaisie.

Il est identifié comme expert en enseignement et formation dans le secteur de l’hôtellerie et de la restauration par plusieurs agences internationales ; à ce titre, il a mené plusieurs missions portant sur le développement de la force de travail et la formation professionnelle pour le compte de l’Agence Française de Développement (AFD) et la Banque Mondiale, en Asie centrale et en Asie du Sud-est.

Eric Olmedo a co-fondé le laboratoire « Anthropotek », une vitrine pour la coopération avec le secteur industriel. L’orientation de recherche au sein du laboratoire se focalise sur des solutions dans le domaine des ressources humaines s’appuyant sur des instruments psychométriques et cognitifs, sans omettre des applications de psychologie sociale et culturelle. Eric Olmedo a également mis sur pied un réseau de chercheurs en sciences sociales appliquées à l’alimentation : le « Asia-Pacific Food Studies Network (APFSN) ».

Eric Olmedo est directeur de la chaire UNESCO  “Pratiques Sociales en Communication Interculturelle et Cohésion Sociale” à l’Université Nationale de Malaisie.
