Description and Mandate of the Chair
The initiative of opening the State University of Management (SUM) UNESCO Chair “Societal, Legal and Ethical Frameworking of Knowledge Societies” was approved by the UNESCO Secretariat in November 2018. On January 25, 2019 the official agreement between the State University of Management and the UNESCO Secretariat was signed.
Under the guidance of the SUM rector Ivan Lobanov, the UNESCO Chair will help students and teachers to participate in educational, scientific and cultural programmes, attract expert community to the university in accordance with the objectives of the UNESCO Medium-Term Strategy for 2014-2021:
- Strategic objective 2: Empowering learners to be creative and responsible global citizens.
- Strategic objective 4: Strengthening science, technology and innovation systems and policies – nationally, regionally and globally.
- Strategic objective 9: Promoting freedom of expression, media development and access to information and knowledge.
